[AutoTribune(NY)=Haemi Kim] Hyundai applied for two trademarks at the Australian Intellectual Property Office at the end of last year. The names registered were Ionic T7 and Ionic T10, respectively. Ionic is Hyundai's electric vehicle brand, and it is said that the T stands for Truck. This suggests Hyundai plans to release new electric pickup trucks.
The one getting more attention is the T10, especially since Jaehoon Chang, the CEO and President of Hyundai, mentioned the possibility of launching the T10 in Korea. For this reason, the T10 is expected to be quite large. According to a press release from Hyundai's Southern US division, it's anticipated to compete with full-size electric pickup trucks like the Chevrolet Silverado EV and Ford F-150 Lightning.
Details about Hyundai's new electric pickup trucks are still under wraps, with only their names known so far. It's hard to speculate further, except that they might be based on the new IMA platform. However, with the trademark applications in, more information about these vehicles might soon be revealed, starting a buzz of anticipation.
